On May 29 Ryan Higgens of Redmond High School received
a Justin Colonna
Memorial Scholarship for $2,000 from Justin's
family.
The family tries to keep Justin's spirit alive here
on earth by
doing good things in his name for other people.
Ryan is a wonderful young man who will attend
Central Oregon Community College and major in Criminal
Justice.
Ryan would not have been able to attend college without
financial assistance.

On the weekend of Justin's Birthday 2001, family
and friends gathered to dedicate a new
bench at the
Smith
Rock National Park near Redmond, OR. It is located at the top of this
famous rock structure
and can be reached by trail.

Hike with us in honor of Justin's Last Journey
July 9th - 7:30 am
It will be necessary to begin the hike by 7:30
to avoid afternoon thunderstorms.
4th of July Trail up to South Arapaho Peak
Directions to 4th of July trail are:
From Boulder take Canyon Road west to Nederland.
Go through Nederland and on to Eldora.
Follow the highway through Eldora continuing on up the mountain
until it stops at the 4th of July Trail parking lot.

POSTHUMOUS DEGREES TO BE
GRANTED TO CU-BOULDER STUDENTS
Justin Anthony Colonna, Tuan Linh Vu Nguyen, Eric
Mitchell Smith and Jeong
Uk Noh will receive posthumous degrees from the University
of Colorado at
Boulder during commencement ceremonies May 11 and
May 12.
Colonna, a fifth-year senior at CU-Boulder, was killed
in an avalanche on
Dec. 18, 1999, in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.
He will receive
bachelor's degrees in communications and humanities.
Ann Colonna, Justin Colonna's sister, will accept
the degree on May 12 at
the recognition ceremony for communications majors
at 3:30 p.m. in the Mary
Rippon Theater.
A tree also will be planted and a bench dedicated
in memory of Colonna on
May 11 at 3:30 p.m., by the west entrance of the
new Humanities Building.
